We wanted to send our congratulations to the Wimbledon Common and Village Walk and Talk community.

They celebrated their one year birthday in style. A fantastic day,  a record number of walkers and talkers, a fitting friendly and social celebration afterwards and raising money for an amazing charity sending ambulances full of aid to Ukraine MedicalLifeLines.org.uk.

We thought the feedback from Rob Noble, the fantastic and dedicated Wimbledon Common and Village Walk and Talk co-ordinator, says it all:

I think it was one of the most rewarding days that I have had for many years. No kidding. Top effort… 14 volunteers dressed in green. 10 dogs and 110 walkers.

A birthday… a 1 hours walk into the Common and woods. logo’d cakes (many), balloons, tea pots, urns, contributors, an MP, Parliamentary candidates, local media, councillors, local associations and businesses, an ambulance, a charity, cash donations, outstanding post walk refreshments, an extraordinary landlady.

A very, very well done to all of the Wimbledon Common and Village team.

Hear hear and well done to you Rob. What an impact you are making for the local community.

Volunteering to support a Walk and Talk is really easy, fun and flexible – and puts so many smiles on faces every week. Just turn up to any of the Walk and Talks (find the locations here) and let the walk organiser know you want to help or e-mail us at: info@thewalkandtalkmovement.org.

….and setting up a new Walk and Talk for your local community can be a walk in a park – find out more here.
