We are so happy that the ever popular Wimbledon Common and Village Walk and Talk is celebrating its third birthday – and in style. This Walk and Talk really sums up the power of local communities to come together and create a lasting impact for so many people.
The Walk and Talk Movement inspired local groups including The Wimbledon and Putney Commons, The Wimbledon Society, the Friends of Cannizaro Park, local residents associations and councillors to come together to create a fantastic Walk and Talk – run by the community for the community. And in turn what an inspiration they have been.
Here is a message from Rob, a brilliant local volunteer who has helped the Wimbledon Common & Village Walk & Talk to be such a success:
This Saturday, 16th May, sees the 3rd anniversary of the Wimbledon Common & Village Walk & Talk. To mark this birthday we have a special walk supported by all the original founding groups and special guests. The walkers have been supported by so many businesses, pubs, clubs and churches with generous hospitality come rain or shine. It has become a true community where everyone helps out. We hope you are free on Saturday at 10.30 to join us. We will start at the Wimbledon War Memorial, meet with friends and make our way to the Rangers office. There we will enjoy celebration cakes and other goodies. See you on Saturday.
Thank you Rob and to all involved. You have created an enduring and growing community to be very proud of.
