Walkers and Talkers are stepping back into the past on Saturday 17th August – as they celebrate the popular annual Merton Heritage Discovery Day.

In fact the wonderful community led Morden Hall Park Walk and Talk group are kicking off the whole day by leading a walk from the beautiful National Trust green space to the Merton Civic Centre – where the library there will host fascinating community displays, activities, workshops and speakers celebrating Merton’s colourful cultural past and present and future.

Come and join in. The Morden Walk and Talk group is meeting at its usual starting point, in the picnic area near the stable block at 10.30am on Saturday.

The free heritage event then goes on to 4.30pm and is open to all and more information can be found here:

Events like the heritage day remind us how important community and a sense of belonging and attachment to our local area can be to us all – and has always been. In our modern, tech driven world, there are so many things that appear designed to remove us from contact with other people, rather than bringing us together. That is why meeting up and having a lovely chat can be the simple solution to an age old problem.

Indeed, discovery is what Walk and Talks are all about. Discovering new connections with friends and neighbours, new activities, new green spaces, new conversations.

So let’s celebrate our community, heritage and culture – because together we are happier, healthier and stronger.

Remember join a Walk and Talk any Saturday at 10.30am for a good old time – see the Locations Page
