Happy Birthday first birthday to you, Happy Birthday to you, Happy Birthday Wimbledon Common & Village Walk and Talk….Happy Birthday to you.

…and there are many happy returns every week – as the Walk and Talk always attracts a great crowd…

Here is a message from the wonderful Wimbledon Common and Village Walk and Talk community organisers:

You are all invited to the 1st Anniversary Walk of the Wimbledon Common and Village Walk and Talk on Saturday 11 th  May, starting at 10.30am at the Wimbledon War Memorial. This Anniversary Walk and Talk will take us into and around parts of the famous Common where we will be joined by prominent locals including Stephen Hammond MP who will share anecdotes about some of his predecessors as Wimbledon’s Member of Parliament. We will conclude our walk at the Rose & Crown Pub, where we can thank Nicky Green who recently celebrated her 20 th  Anniversary as the pub’s landlady.

Our Walk and Talk has grown from strength to strength over the past year, now regularly attracting 50+ per week and showcasing some of the heritage, environmental and charitable highlights of our local community. This is all thanks to the hard work of the Wimbledon Society, the Friends and Conservators of Wimbledon Common, the Friends of Cannizaro Park, the Wimbledon Village Business Association and the Wimbledon United Residents Associations, all expertly coordinated by Rob Noble.

To mark our 1st  Anniversary, we are thrilled that Medical Life Lines Ukraine (MLLU) will be also joining us along with an MLLU ambulance. This extraordinary charity was founded by Village resident Aliya Aralbayeva the day after Russia invaded Ukraine in 2022. MLLU sends ambulances full of aid to Ukraine to support the civilian war effort. To date MLLU has sent 57 ambulances to Ukraine, largely fundraised for, and driven by, local residents. The next convoy of ambulances departs on 18th May, taking with them targeted aid which has been requested by specific hospitals. To find out how you can support Medical Lifelines Ukraine, please visit their website,

As with all Walk and Talks, there is no charge or need to register in advance and all are welcome.

We look forward to seeing you on 11th May and every Saturday at 10.30am starting from the War Memorial in Wimbledon Village, on the corner of Parkside and The Causeway.
